History
The Haledon Fire Department was established in 1896 with the forming of Haledon Fire Company 1. The department continued to operate like this until they saw a need to expand in 1928 that is when a group of citizen formed Haledon Fire Department Company 2. The Haledon Fire Department still operates with 2 companies as 1 department and will continue to do so.

Membership

The Haledon Fire Department is always looking for volunteers. Any citizen that is at least 18 years old is eligible to join. If you are interested or want more information you can stop by either one of the fire houses on any Monday night between 7-9pm located at Company 1 at 21 Pompton Road, Haledon, NJ 07508 or Company 2 at 522 West Broadway Haledon, NJ 07508 or call Chief Tom Bakker at 201-522-4982 and email tbakker@haledonboronj.com
